A British man of Saudi origin was the courageous double agent who foiled al Qaeda terrorists seeking to blow up a passenger jet with an underwear bomb, reports said yesterday.
The unidentified informant was recruited by Saudi counterintelligence about a year ago, and was working closely with Britain’s two main spy agencies, Reuters reported.

The daring spy infiltrated the Yemen-based al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula organization, and volunteered for a suicide mission aimed at taking down a US jet.
He was to be equipped with a more advanced version of the underwear bomb that failed in an attempted attack over Detroit on Christmas Day 2009.
